Several companies have experienced data breaches over the past few months, causing login data to fall into the wrong hands. At NS, we have also noticed people trying to access accounts in order to collect personal data. Make sure to pick a secure password to prevent this from happening to you!
A secure password for your Mijn NS account
Data security is very important to us. To help keep your data safe, here are some tips on picking a safe password. With a safe password, you will make it more difficult for others to access your Mijn NS account. Is your password as strong as it could be? Here's a checklist to help you create a safe password.
Checklist for a secure password
- Change your password at least once per year
- Pick a password that consists of at least 10 characters
- Pick a password with at least 1 upper-case and 1 lower case-letter
- Pick a password with at least 1 number
- Pick a password with at least 1 non-alphanumeric character (eg. ?,! or %)
- Use different passwords
Help with password safety
There are lots of handy programs that can help you create and remember passwords, such as Keepass or LastPass. Visit Have I been Pwned to check whether your account details are also found on lists of stolen information. If they have, change all your passwords as quickly as possible.
