Trade union FNV has announced strikes at ProRail's traffic control centres this week and next week. The third strike day with consequences for passengers is Monday morning 18 November at traffic control centres Rotterdam, The Hague and Roosendaal.
Train traffic in Zuid-Holland, Zeeland and West-Brabant will be halted until 09:00 a.m. This means no trains will run there and fewer trains will run on several surrounding routes. In addition, there will be no national or international trains on the high-speed line (HSL) between Belgium, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Passengers from the south to Haarlem and Hoofddorp will also be inconvenienced.
The impact on the train service is wider than just the strike area. Please note that due to works by ProRail, there are already far fewer trains running to, from and via Schiphol Airport on Monday
International train passengers are also affected by this strike. For an overview and travel advice, check the NS International site.
For the rest of the morning, expect delays and cancellations; it takes time to start up the train service.
There will also be strikes on the following days:
- Wednesday 20 November: ProRail Eindhoven and Maastricht
- Friday 22 November: ProRail Zwolle, Groningen and Arnhem
A day before each strike, the exact consequences are mapped out. Click on Strikes FNV at ProRail (in Dutch) for more information and an overview map. The journey planner is updated one day before each strike, plan your journey shortly before departure for the most up-to-date travel advice.
