Paid P+R parking in cooperation with Q-park
Information about how your data are used when you use paid P+R parking facilities offered in partnership with Q-Park
What personal data do we use?
In order to make parking simpler and faster, our parking system uses licence plate recognition to allow cars to enter and exit the facility. In order to avoid capturing your licence plate details for no reason, this information is encrypted using a hash-code, which converts your license plate number into a series of random numbers. This applies to all customers who make use of paid P+R facilities.
For customers who pay in advance or pay on account on the basis of a season ticket (for example an NS Businesscard or a Q-Park season ticket) the name, address, bank account number, e-mail address and (if provided) the telephone number associated with the card, as well as the card number, will be processed. In that case the card issuer will be in control of your personal data.
For customers who do not have a season ticket and who pay at the P+R facility's terminal, their debit card or credit card transaction details are not disclosed to NS.
Finally, the P+R facilities are equipped with cameras, which means that camera footage is processed.
What do we use your personal data for?
When you park at a P+R facility, we need your data in order to settle payment or to invoice you for the parking transaction.
The basis for data processing is: performance of a contract
The licence plate, financial details and contact details are essential for the performance of the contract. Without these data we cannot collect parking charges from you or, if you have a season ticket, contact you about an invoice or parking transaction.
The basis for data processing is: legitimate interest.
If you use P+R with your NS-Business Card, NS will process your transaction data in aggregated form for invoicing and marketing purposes. These data include journey details, check-in and check-out times and location. If you do not want NS to use your transaction details for this purpose, you can opt out of this service via Mijn NS Zakelijk.
P+R facilities are equipped with cameras, such as overview cameras, which lets us remotely monitor safety and operational processes.
We notify you that we are using cameras by means of pictograms or notices. The pictograms that you may see are displayed here on the right-hand side:
With whom do we share data?
We contract third parties to provide IT services. These third parties process our data solely for our own internal use, and for no other purpose. We have made agreements with these parties pertaining to the processing of personal data.
We are authorised to provide your personal data to parties outside the European Economic Community under certain circumstances. In that event, we will take suitable measures with these parties, for example by agreeing to the standard provisions required by the European Commission.
The control centre activities and camera surveillance are performed by Q-Park. SKIDATA is responsible for maintaining the Parking Management System. Your data are therefore also shared with Q-Park. If you have a season ticket with Q-Park, they are the data controller. For more details of this data processing we would therefore advise you to consult the Q-Park website.
How long do we store your data?
We store financial and contact details up to 18 months after the end of the contract.
We store camera footage for a maximum of 4 weeks so that we can check the footage in the event of an incident.
