Saying goodbye or shopping
If there's enough balance (€10 or €20) on your OV-chipkaart, you can pass through closed gates at a station. If you check in and out within 60 minutes, you won't pay. This also applies to the NS-Business Card.
OV-chipkaart without a travel product or balance
Is there no or not enough balance on your OV-chipkaart? Then load a free one-off station passage product onto your card at an NS card machine. This will allow you to spend 60 minutes at that station on that day.
